THREE OF MEN’S GOLF WIN PING / GCAA HONORS FOR THE ENTIRE REGION

Norman, Okla. – Three members of the Le Moyne College men’s golf team have won Division II PING honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), as recently announced by the association.

Second year Nicolas Bové (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee) and first year students Spencer Baum (Syracuse, NY / Liverpool) and Tyler birdd (Elma, NY / Iroquois) were each recognized.

Bove, who was also named to the All-Regions squad as a rookie, led the Dolphins with a points average of 75.3 in 13 rounds in seven events. Selected in the first team of the Northeast-10 conference, he recorded par or better scores in three rounds, including a team best lap of 67 to win the SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational by five strokes on April 17. He continued this performance by winning the Northeastern Conference-10 Championship on April 20 with a score of 36 holes of three over par 147 to win by one stroke. In addition to his two wins, he was second at the Bentley Spring Invitational on April 6 and sixth at the Mike Bello Invitational in Le Moyne on April 12.

Birdd was second on the team with an 11-round six-round average of 76.0. Selected in the NE10 third team, he opened his career by tying three others for the lowest round of the event, a par 72, in a tri-match with Assumption and Bentley. He finished second among 45 competitors with a par 144 at the Mike Bello Invitational with rounds of 76 and a par of four under 68, the second best runner-up this season.

Baum was fourth on the team with an average score of 77.7 in 13 rounds in seven events. A third NE10 team recipient, he finished in the top 10 in four of the seven events. He finished tied for seventh among 39 participants at the Bentley Spring Invitational on April 6. He finished third in the NE10 Championship with a 150.

The Dolphins finished in the top three on four of six invitations, including victories at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and the SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational. They placed second at the Mike Bello Invitational and third at the Saint Rose Invitational.
