Los Angeles-based iPalpiti Artists International is dedicated to educating future generations of advanced musicians, and the annual festival features a touring troupe of more than two dozen young professional artists from around the world. This year marks their 24th festival and they are making a few appearances in the San Diego area this weekend.

The big event is the full performance of the Sunday Afternoon Orchestra indoors on the Baker-Baum Concert Hall stage at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla. It presents four works: “Variations on the Theme by Tchaikovsky, Opus 35” by Anton Arensky, “Souvenir d’un Lieu Cher Op. 42: Meditation” by Tchaikovsky, “Marche Miniature Viennoise” by Fritz Kreisler and “Seascapes” by Contemporary composer Alexey Shor in 2014, a four-movement violin concerto that will be a West Coast premiere.

If small ensembles are more your thing, catch a series of solo performances at the Encinitas Library on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Each evening features a handful of soloists and a wide range of works.
