Government and Defense Industry Leaders Featured at Baird’s 5th Annual Conference

Baird’s fifth annual Government and Defense Conference hosted government officials and federal sector industry representatives to discuss current trends and future business strategies and opportunities in the government contracting industry.

On Thursday, former Wash100 Award winners John Mengucci of CACI International, Jonathan Moneymaker of BlueHalo, Byron Bright of KBR and Tony Frazier of Maxar Technologies shared their thoughts and market experience in panel discussions moderated by Baird’s Managing Directors. , Jean Stack and John Song.

The more than 1,400 attendees at the event also heard government officials speak on a range of topics, including the economic outcomes of recent sociopolitical events and US competition with close adversaries China and Russia.

Michael McCord, Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Defense, acknowledged that China is modernizing faster, but said he was convinced that the United States dominates its competitors in terms of capabilities, experience and strength.

McCord, a former Wash100 winner, also commented on the importance of the joint command and control initiative of all areas of the Pentagon for the future battlefield.

Another topic discussed at the event is digital transformation within the government sector. In a Session I discussion, ICF’s Mark Lee and Deloitte’s Sean Morris discussed ways to help government transform and replace legacy systems with next-generation technologies.
