Addison is getting ready for the annual Kaboom Town! Event – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Preparations are underway for The Kaboom town of Addison! The celebration will take place on Saturday July 3. Over 500,000 people attend the event each year.

“This event is huge,” said Jasmine Lee, director of special events at Addison. “He’s been on many national Top 10 lists for July 4th.e celebrations, so this attracts people from all over the country and even other countries came out.

Addison Circle Park is the 12-acre epicenter of the festivities and the night before. The celebration spans the city, with watch nights at many of Addison’s restaurants and 22 hotels.

“We are thrilled that so many of them are back in full force and hosting these Eve parties – get people to celebrate and see that they are back in business and functioning again,” said said Lee.

Organizers say Kaboom Town! is even more special now after it was canceled last year due to COVID-19.

“2020 has been tough for everyone from individuals to restaurants to our hotels – it has hit everyone hard, and everyone is so excited to come out and have a certain sense of normalcy” , Lee said.

Highlight this year – a patriotic flight over freedom featuring warbirds from the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, aerobatic planes and other surprises.

“If you remember about a year ago when the Blue Angels were around hospitals and things like that, it got us thinking – let’s do something like that,” said Mike Gallaway, pilot and organizer of the event. ‘events. “We are coming out of the pandemic, having a Freedom Flyover, something to motivate people, something to watch before the fireworks display.”

And with watch nights at dozens of nearby hotels and restaurants, organizers say there’s no better way for a community to come together than by supporting their local businesses.

“We’re happy to be able to bring people together, we’re not just celebrating America’s independence, we’re really celebrating what we’ve all accomplished in the past 16 months.”

The fireworks display and the inauguration Addison Airport Freedom Flight can be seen from anywhere in town, and guests are encouraged to plan to attend one of the many watch nights in Addison.
